My animated piece is a rotoscoped film showcasing the beauty of lions as a species while also highlighting their precarious situation. It will start off with showing clips of lions that have been rotoscoped in 2D on traditionally illustrated backgrounds. Then it will show some of the issues that are causing lions to fall in numbers, such as loss of habitat and human intervention. This will be shown with facts and statistics to illustrate the present situation and illicit the call to help. I will then show methods to help following these sobering facts. The title screen will then show up and then we will cut to another lion and the rotoscoped layer will fade away to show the real footage to show that, while this film is animated, it’s talking about real issues in our society today.
